Chargers Continue Trip With Loss to NW Fla. St., Win Over Shawnee

NICEVILLE, Fla.
The Carl Sandburg College softball team banged out 15 hits to win the last of two games Tuesday as it continued its spring break trip to the Florida panhandle.
The Chargers lost 13-5 to Northwest Florida State before hammering Shawnee 11-2 behind big games from Rachel Barrington (Dunlap, Ill./Dunlap) and Grace Wilmington (Chillicothe, Ill./Illinois Valley Central) to move to 2-4 on the season.

Key Moment
Emily Bloomer (Burlington, Iowa/Burlington) doubled home a run in the second for a 3-2 Chargers lead, but the Raiders answered with six runs in the bottom half.

Already ahead 4-1 in the fourth, the Chargers tacked on three runs to open up a 7-1 lead. Kelsey Hobson (Bartonville, Ill./Limestone) drove in two with a bunt double, and Wilmington doubled to left later in the inning to make it 7-1.

Wilmington went 3 for 4 with two doubles, two runs, two RBIs and a stolen base to lead a 15-hit attack for the Chargers.
